Lanthanide (Eu, Nd, Gd) and actinide (Th, U) adsorption in a system consisting of fulvic acid, metal ions and clay minerals (montmorillonite, kaolinite, illit) studied as a function of pH, Me concentration and fulvic acid concentration using spectrophotometer analysis and 152 Eu tracer. It is shown that an increase in metal adsorption on clay minerals may be observed when there are humic substances in the system. The bridging of polyvalent metal ions between clay minerals and humic substance complexes is proposed as the possible adsorption mechanism.
