The operational effectiveness of high disperse pyrogenic silicas as filling materials, thickeners and sorbents in many respects is determined by a degree of hydration of their surface.

The structure of hydrate-hydroxylic cover of pyrogenic silicas depends on conditions of synthesis and, in particular, on components ratio given to the zone of incineration.

When researching, we have found the formation of a surface texture of pyrogenic silica to depend on a turbulence level of a gas stream exactly in the zone of hyperthermal torch. In the work the special torch was used that permits to change parameters of the gas spray consisting of silicon tetrachloride, air, and hydrogen.

It was established that the varying conditions of synthesis allows to change the content of adsorbed water for 3-4 times, concentration of hydroxyl groups and value of specific surface being stable practically.

The pyrogenic silicas with low hydrophillity can be effective filling materials and thickeners of organic mediums.
