By the chromatographic method the change in structure – group and homological composition of transformer oils before and after reclamation using the adsorption method applying the natural sorbents in the natural and acidic-active state has been investigated.

It was determined that the best results of the used transformer oil reclaim are provided by the acidic-active montmorillonite. However, proceeding from the necessity to preserve residues of anti-oxidative additive of ionol the advantage is given to the natural palygorskite, which at the satisfactory reclamation quality preserves the greatest ional quantity.

With the analysis help it was determined that the main oil transformations during the operation take place at the expense of the oxidation of aromatic compound cyclic radicals, which form a resinous part of the used hydrocarbons. The oxidation lesser touches the paraffin and petroleum hydrocarbons.

It is shown that the presence of oxygen both in gaseous form and in oil results in simultaneous oxidation alongside with the reclamation. Therefore, the best results have been obtained during the reclamation while using vacuum.

The influence of catalytic transformation of the used transformer oil components during the reclamation by palygorskite. The modeling of the catalytic process transformations at different temperatures of the adsorbent - oil contact was used. It was determined that the catalytic transformation in the presence of oxygen leads to the appearance of allyicyclic none-saturated alcohols. In the absence of oxygen the re-alkalization, dehydration, and cyclization with the production of toluene, naphthalene, phenanthrene, and product of their condensation are formed.

It is established that the products of the catalytic transformations in considerable quantities are formed at the temperatures higher 200° C. On comparing the catalytic palygorskite activity with the industrial sorbents, such as zeolite and Zikeyev clay it is determined that palygorskite as to the catalytic activity concedes these adsorbents.

On the base of the investigation results the recommendation concerning the palygorskite use in the transformer oil reclamation were made, the Ministry of power industry has approved the developed TU (technical conditions) for palygorskite – crumb for reclaiming plants. On the base of the technical task and the recommendations on the palygorskite use developed by the authors the construction of the reclaiming plant with the capacity 2 t/shift in Belgorod-Dnistrovsky, Odesa region. The plant has to be exploited in the system of repairing subdivisions of Oblenergo.
