Liquid ammoniates (LA) obtained by action of dried gaseous ammonia on anhydrous salts at room temperature are very suitable as supporting electrolytes in electrochemical investigations. Surface active agents in LA\’s form classical pseudocapacity peaks as well as the decrease in the differential capacity of the double layer in the adsorption potential range. The electrocapillary curves obtained by DME drop time method exhibited typical shape with the zero charge potential at about -0.2V for LA of NaI, -0.25V for LA of NH4NO3, -0.3V for LA of LiNO3 and -0.4V for LA of NH4SCN (against the mercury pool electrode). The adsorption potential ranges of organic compounds are usually wider and values of free enthalpy of adsorption are larger than those in corresponding aqueous solutions.
The aim of this work was the adsorption investigations of toluidine isomers and toluidine derivatives in various ammoniates (NH4NO3, LiNO3, NH4NO3 and NaI) on the dropping mercury electrode, in order to determine the adsorption parameters and to propose a model of the adsorption layer structure formed on the mercury surface.
