Several substances in the anhydrous state absorb gaseous ammonia form liquid ammoniates (LA). LA\’s are much more comfortable in laboratory practice than liquid ammonia, because the former can be handled at room or even higher temperature without pressure equipment. LA\’s are non-aqueous liquids showing considerable electrical conductivity and they are good solvents for many organic and inorganic compounds. These properties enable the use of LA as supporting electrolytes [1-4].

The aim of this work was electrochemical investigations of aliphatic diols on dropping mercury electrode (DME) from liquid ammoniate of ammonium nitrate (LAAN) in order to determine the adsorption parameters and to propose a model of the adsorption layer structure formed on the mercury surface.
